The Best Way to Find Community

7/24/2017

Ladies, who doesn't want to have community and lifetime friendships? Where we feel like we belong and that others care about us? It's certainly easy for my five year old to make friends. Or how about those college roommates who know you better than anybody? It's easy to make lifetime connections staying up talking until 2 am. Who can do that with a family and real world responsibilities though!? It's hard to find a sense of community and sometimes when we do, it's difficult to keep it. But why is that? What makes it so difficult to find a group of people that we want to hang out and do life with and who wants to hang out with us? And where do we find these people anyway?

Turning a frumpy morning into a fabulous friday

It's Friday! Who else feels frumpy today? Just me? Oh good. ;) Despite it being a fairly quick week - it was a little hectic and I was not in the mood to anything today. I didn't want to get out of bed. I didn't want to make breakfast. I just didn't want to start the day. That doesn't really fly with three kiddos five and under. It was a crazy week, which is normal, but making the most out of the early morning time before kiddos get up can make all the difference.

How to meal plan with Cook ahead meals (aka leftovers)

I will be honest, I am not very good at meal planning. Maybe that is why I despise it. The week always goes ten times better when I at least have a guideline though. I have searched and attempted to use countless meal planning printables and apps. We cook ahead food at one time for leftovers and so far, nothing has worked except for something I drew out on plain paper one Sunday night.

Why Being Perfect Is Not Always Better

7/13/2017

Why do we feel like everything has to be perfectly in place before we start a project? Or that we have to follow a specific set of guidelines to get meaning out of an activity? Maybe the lesson comes from the messiness and the journey.

Francis Chan is a great author and has several Bible studies and books available. One of the more compelling studies I have done is one of his on The Book of James. James has actually become one of my favorite books of the Bible, and partly due to this study.

It seems like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) has every symptom/effect under the sun. Everything from irregular periods, infertility, cysts on the ovaries, acne, unwanted hair growth, thinning hair (where you do want it - on your head), elevated testosterone to the more serious issues effects such as, diabetes, high blood pressure, increased risk of heart disease and really the list seems to go on. (source: Mayo Clinic) If you are trying to get pregnant, check out my Pregnancy Story. For those with kiddos, PCOS just doesn't go away.

The baby just got her first pair of glasses. Big sister picked out the color, lavender. They are super cute. But she is just under two so getting her to keep them on can be a fight - except not for daddy.

Happy Day After the 4th of July - Pinterest Wins & Pinterest Fails

7/5/2017

Hopefully everyone had a safe and fun Fourth of July holiday. Being on a Tuesday, maybe some of you even had Monday off for an extended holiday weekend. We had traveled over the weekend, but was back by Sunday to get rested for the week. My husband was fortunate enough to take off Monday too. Both of us prepped our dishes we planned to take to the Fourth of July party - Famous Baked Beans and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dip. These were both wins. The fail, and it was a total fail, was dairy and egg free strawberry shortcake.
