It has been whirlwind of a fall, winter and spring. From constant sickness to the holidays to......a third baby (What!?), we have been quite busy the last six months. As I was preparing for the combined birthday party for the kiddos (3 and 1) in January, I was also binge eating and feeling exhausted. Thinking that I was having trouble getting off the holiday food fest, I started a sugar detox to try to get back on track. I failed miserably. Then one day while my daughter, the three year old, was feeling icky and watching Sofia the First, I started crying as Sofia was trying to make it up the bell tower to make the flying derby team. Go Sofia Go! It was then that I knew. Surprise, surprise....sort of I knew we had at least one pregnancy test in the house. When I took it at 10 a.m. that morning and it turned positive immediately, there was no question. But to be absolutely sure, I loaded up the kiddos and bought a few more. Another immediate positive test that afternoon. I was a little shocked. We had not been "trying", but we were not preventing so it was always a possibility. We had been talking about another baby, but was just going to see what happened. My husband was actually the one who first started talking about a third baby so I knew he would be excited, although I did not expect him to be surprised. When I asked him at dinner that night, Are you busy next Monday around mid-morning? I thought you might want to go to the ultrasound appointment with me?, he looked up from his plate very confused. I continued with, You know, for an ultrasound to confirm the positive tests I took today. With that, he began smiling from ear to ear, with an "oh really!!" look. I'll never forget it. He did not think it would happen this soon, but was extremely excited. Lots of Emotions These Days
Tie Breaker - Boy or Girl?? Everyone has their own preference, but we like to find out the gender. We also are not good at keeping fun secrets like this so, of course we share the news. It's something our daughter (and us too) have known the whole time......it's a GIRL!!!
I have felt like this pregnancy has been more like when I was pregnant with my daughter, with my food choices and the intensity of the nausea. We are very excited, although we would have been excited either way. Cannot wait to meet her in September! She was a stinker today and did not want to cooperate to get the measurements needed. Could it be a glimpse into our future......we will see. She will have a very excited big sister and a spunky older brother to love and protect her. Thanks for letting me share my story and our news. It is such an emotional roller coaster for me on so many levels and writing down my thoughts is helpful. We are so appreciative to our close friends and family that have supported and prayed for us.
